The Lismorahaun Choir prides itself that it is non-audition and is open to all, regardless of their age or previous musical experience.

Primarily, we welcome new singers twice a year: in September when we start preparing for the Christmas Concerts, and in January when we typically take on a major work (such as the Mozart Mass in C-minor or Requiem).

If you have never sung with a choir before, these months [September/January] are probably the best time to join. If you have sung with a choir before, or are reasonably fluent in reading music, there is a bit more flexibility in when it is suitable for you to join.

It does take a while to find your feet joining a new choir, especially if you have never sung before, but all that is asked that you bring your enthusiasm and commitment to a community endeavour, a sense of fun, and little bit of patience to get you started and we’ll help you to learn the rest: most of our choir does not read music, and we produce sing-at-home practice CDs to help our members learn the music at their own pace as well as uploading practice music to our website.

We also meet outside of choir from time to time in our sections to review our music, especially in the run up to a concert.

You should know, before joining, however that the Lismorahaun Singers practice—A LOT. We meet every Sunday night at Ballyvaughan Community Hall in Autumn and Spring from 7-9pm and Winter 6-8pm over the course of the year running from September to the end of June.

If you would like to find out more about joining the Lismorahaun Singers, why not drop us a line and we’ll get back to you with the details of our next rehearsal times. Be sure to leave your telephone number, if you would like us to give you a call in person.
